Clinching both Doubles and Singles B triumphs, the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) Anglers surged past the College of Education (COEd) Legendary Mentors, netting a hard-fought 2–1 (0–6, 6–1, 6–3) victory in the men’s lawn tennis semifinals held at the Lawn Tennis Court on October 13.

The Anglers’ rally to gain an early advantage in the Singles A category never materialized, as the Legendary Mentors capitalized on their momentum, blanking CFAS, 0–6.

In the opening fixture of the doubles category, CFAS struggled to find their rhythm, allowing COEd to take an understandable lead, 30–60, and claim the first set, 0–1.

With ice in their veins, the Anglers’ doubles pair adjusted their play, shifting to their newly honed 1-up, 1-back formation to outmaneuver the Mentors and capture the second set, tying the match at 1–1.

Riding their regained momentum, CFAS mixed counterhit precision with crafty positioning, overwhelming their opponents to clinch the decisive set, 6–1.

Building on that surge, the Anglers held their ground in the singles b category, thwarting COEd’s late push for glory and sealing the first match point, 1–0.

Despite the Legendary Mentors’ desperate bid for a finals berth, CFAS’ contender stayed composed under pressure, wrapping up the singles b category, 6–3.

With the win, the Anglers advance to the gold medal match against the College of Business Administration and Accountancy Tycoons, while the College of Engineering Asteegs will face the Legendary Mentors for bronze. Both matches, along with the women’s championship, will be played tomorrow at 3PM.
