Reasserting their dominance on the court, the College of Education (COEd) Legendary Mentors captured their second consecutive Sepak Takraw championship after sweeping the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) Anglers, 3–0 (15-10, 15-9, 15-12) at the University Takraw Court, October 12.
Rekindling last year’s finals rivalry, the defending champions displayed composure and cohesion throughout the match. Team captain Adrian Cañas spearheaded the offense with Aldous Raphael Tangpos and Kim Bryan Lumaa-as, securing all three sets. The Anglers attempted a late comeback in the third frame, narrowing the gap from 5–9 to 12–9, but the Mentors held steady to seal the win and complete their two-peat.
Cañas credited their preparation and mindset as key factors in sustaining their performance.
“Dili gid magpakumpyansa sa sarili kay bilog ang bola tapos prepare ra gid always and iwas sa disgrasya,” he said.
He also acknowledged the adjustments the team made during the game.
“Na-encounter namo as a team, for me sir kay galisod kog throw sa tekong pero na-adjustan man namo sir and miscommunication sometimes,” COEd’s Cañas added.
With this victory, the Legendary Mentors reaffirm their sepak takraw supremacy replicating last year’s finals result against the same Anglers and cementing their reign as the back-to-back champions of the court.
