Pursuant to Board of Regents (BOR) Resolution No. 284, series of 2025, the Mindanao State University–General Santos City (MSU-GSC) institutionalized the Business and Income Generating Office (BIGO), officially establishing the university as an income-generating institution. The move coincided with the inauguration of 13 on-campus facilities held this morning, October 10.
Facilities and machineries launched were the Front Gate Turnstiles, Outdoor LED Wall, Digital Media Laboratory, Library Turnstiles, E-Library, Information Kiosk, Agriculture E-Laboratory, ICT Command Center, Data Center, ICT Complex E-Classrooms, University Canteen, SHS Faculty Office, and the University Infirmary were opened to the public during the said event.
According to BIGO Director Rhea M. Ayop, the office had “a lot of plans” for income-generating projects (IGPs), which would be essential in funding the future developments of the university.
“BIGO was tasked to oversee remittances of sectors such as transport and vendors, and to account for other income-generating activities. And then, if you can see, we have an approved IGP manual,” Ayop expressed.

Establishing systematic processes
The director emphasized the policy structure under Special Order No. 1234-25C, stating that the office was tasked to hold a copy of the Official Receipts (OR) released by the campus cashiers.
“They keep a copy of it for audit or accounting purposes, while the original remains with them since it’s their official document. Our role here is monitoring, for the monthly report,” Ayop shared.
She further stressed the importance of preparing a monthly report to support the administration’s operations in collecting remittances.
“Even the fields, when used by outsiders, have rental fees per hour. The same goes for donations, conference rooms, and others. Although these are free for students, we still need to consider expenses such as electricity and other utilities,” she clarified.
With all preparations for the inauguration, the BIGO was located within a 200-square-meter building, which now serves as its administrative base for overseeing income-generating services across the university.
‘We procured equipment’
In an interview with Bagwis, Chancellor Shidik Abantas highlighted the improvements made in this year’s preparation for the Intramurals, emphasizing the procurement of various sports equipment.
“The addition to our condition day and intrams is that we were able to procure sports equipment for basketball, volleyball, and other categories. We might also be inaugurating later tonight at the gym,” Abantas stated.
Moreover, Abantas expressed his disappointment over the delay in the inauguration of the new infirmary.
“I told them to transfer here, whether you like it or not. Finally, they were able to transfer. In fact, the infirmary is now functioning,” he said.
He also announced that there would be a massive printing of new Identification Documents (IDs) to be used for the Radio Frequency Identificati
on (RFID) system.
