Showcasing precision and poise, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) Wizards and the College of Engineering (COE) Asteegs reigned supreme in the men’s and women’s singles table tennis finals held at the University Library, October 12.

In a thrilling all-Wizards duel, Ren Paulo Galas clinched the men’s singles championship after a 3–1 victory over teammate Chriss Gerllan Sabuso.

Sabuso opened strong with an 11–8 win in the first set, but Galas bounced back with sharp adjustments and composed play to dominate the next three frames, 11–6, 11–3, and 11–5.

John Paul Bagnol of the COE secured third place, completing the podium and underscoring CNSM’s continued dominance in the men’s division.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles finals, Kamelle Althea Bantulo of the Asteegs completed her redemption arc with a commanding 3–0 sweep (11–9, 11–7, 11–3) over Khyla Peniero of the College of Agriculture Reapers.

Bantulo maintained steady control and composure, narrowly edging the first set before pulling away in the next two with precise placements and confident forehand attacks.

“Actually, no placement kami last year in both team and singles, so gi-try gid namo mabalik sa COE ang gold,” shared Bantulo, emphasizing their renewed focus and preparation leading into the Intramurals.

On the other hand, Angela Colin Villanueva of the College of Education Legendary Mentors claimed third place to round out the women’s podium.

With Galas leading the Wizards’ sweep in the men’s division and Bantulo delivering gold for the Asteegs in the women’s side, both colleges solidified their status as table tennis powerhouses in this year’s Intramurals.
