With discs cutting through the air and energy filling the field, the Mindanao State University–General Santos City (MSU-GSC) Ultimate makes history as it launches its first-ever inter-college tune-up games in celebration of Intramurals 2025, today, October 10, at the University Quadrangle.

The Ultimate team, originally formed by students from the College of Engineering (COE) and the College of Education (COEd), has expanded its player pool this year. Fueled by anticipation and curiosity, more students across the university have joined the sport, widening its reach to other colleges.

Gaining popularity through forehand throws on the COE field, the frisbee event has become a staple of the college’s annual week, engaging students from various departments in friendly competition. Meanwhile, at the COEd grounds, the event is also integrated into their Physical Education program.

“Good sign. Kami naga-expect rami ug dalawa lang na college which is Educ [Education] and Engineering, so nabigla mi na daghan diay may gusto; daghan sila plano ug daghan pod sila gusto malearn,”said Ultimate head coach Kenth Joe Mamoca, expressing his team’s delight at seeing more contingents take part in the demo event.

He also expressed his hope for the sport to be officially included in future Intramural Games, saying, “Mao na naga-demo mi karon kay hopefully ma-approve sa SDO [Sports Development Office] next intrams.”

The MSU-GSC frisbee troupe, which previously competed in the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament Invitational 2025 last September, gained valuable experience and secured an impressive fourth-place finish that fueled the squad’s passion and drive for the game.

A total of six determined colleges joined the event, featuring ambitious participants from the College of Agriculture (COA), College of Education, College of Business Administration and Accountancy, College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, as well as the ever-active COEd and COE.

“Naengganyo mi na mag-join kay bago ang sport, so may mga bagong players [from each college],” said frisbee rookie Clemence Jame Andrada from COA, adding that he and his teammates are all new entrants to the event.

On the other hand, experienced thrower from COE Prince Lenard Compoc emphasized that the inclusion of frisbee in the university could make a difference by boosting the enthusiasm and confidence of aspiring players.

“Ang pinakadako na tabang sa frisbee sa school kay ang spirit of the game, which is gahatag siya ug morale sa mga tao na gadula,” he mentioned.

Fueled by the growing anticipation for the sport within the university, the Ultimate team invited several groups from across the region, including the Polomolok Ultimate Knights, the Generals from General Santos City, and Firefly Ultimate from Municipality of Isulan, whom the main squad will face in the afternoon session of the demo.
